Hitting The Demographic

Before you make any kind of venture into comedy you have to ask yourself this – What demographic am I targeting and how can I convert their interest in my product into the bricks of my financial empire? That’s what lies at the heart of good comedy. It’s not really about making people laugh or have a good time, it’s about data analysis and utilising statistics in order to maximise the potential for economic growth in an industry that is more about enterPRISE than enterTAINMENT. Comedy not aimed at a very, very specific demographic will fail. No-one ever made an eighteen year old laugh with a joke that was technically constructed for a thirty year old.

When Robert and me decided to kick off project Connell and Florence a few months back we had to decide what demographic we were hoping to financially ravage. We decided that since we are young Glasgow men that our demographic should be young Glaswegians (whilst hoping for some degree of market crossover with young Scots from outside the epicentre).

I think it’s clear from a quick glance at how people find our website on Google that we are hitting our young Glasgow demographic squarely between the eyes.
