Anthony Horowitz – author of the popular Alex Rider series – wrote in a comment article for the paper: “In essence, I’m being asked to pay £64 to prove that I am not a paedophile.
“After 30 years writing books, visiting schools, hospitals, prisons, spreading an enthusiasm for culture and literacy, I find this incredibly insulting.”

After the recent spate of children’s authors and illustrators going into schools and carrying out sex attacks on weans in front of their teachers I’m glad someone has come up with a way for them all to prove that they are not sex cases. And at such a reasonable price! Only sixty four quid to prove that classrooms full of children are safe from your libido? That’s a steal. I’m sure there are authors out there who would happily pay as much eighty five, ninety quid to have that element of doubt removed.
Culture. Of. Suspicion.
